Rutger van Santen's Journey through Chemical Complexity
Emiel J.M. Hensen (ed.), 40 Years of Catalysis Research: Rutger van Santen's Journey through Chemical Complexity, East Wind Academic Publishers, 2012, 224 pages.
A special book to mark the 65th anniversary of Rutger van Santen, professor of catalysis at Eindhoven University of Technology. Rutger van Santen is one of the first to examine the mechanisms of catalysis with computer simulations. The book shows how this has grown into an important field. Historian Ton Helvoort describes in the book how the progress of research always depended on the combinations of views from industry and universities.
The book also contains contributions of colleagues from around the world. They describe how Rutger van Santen has influenced their work. The stories resonate the enthusiasm of Rutger van Santen and his colleagues. Forty Years of Catalysis Research also includes a review of thirty key scientific articles by Rutger van Santen, some interviews about science policy and a discussion about the Institute for Complex Molecular Systems in Eindhoven.
